September in the North York Moors national park is a month of many changes. We often still enjoy lovely weather at this time of year, but the shortening days and cooler nights are undeniable signs of the season turning.

Local wildlife starts to prepare for the oncoming winter, with many birds and insects preparing to migrate to warmer climes. Read on to find out more about what you can see and do during the first month of autumn in the North York Moors…

A little bit of rain (or a full-on British downpour) is par for the course during a Yorkshire staycation, and whilst it might postpone your trip to the beach, there are plenty of attractions near High Oaks Grange which can be enjoyed in any weather.

If you are looking for something to do in Pickering, how about the Pickering Treasure Trail? This self-guided, Spy Mission-themed Trail encourages you to explore the village of Pickering in a fun, child-friendly way.

As you follow the Trail route, you are asked to solve various clues set on existing buildings, permanent features and monuments. And to complete the mission like a true secret agent, you must crack the final code!

Make the most of the summer holidays by exploring the North York Moors national park. August sees our iconic native heather plants in full bloom, and there are miles and miles of fabulous beaches to explore. Food, glorious food! Until Monday 31st August, diners are able to get money off their food bill at cafes, pubs and restaurants, thanks to the government's 'Eat Out to Help Out'' scheme.

It's hoped that it will provide a boost to the struggling hospitality industry, so we've rounded up all the eateries around High Oaks Grange, near Pickering in the North York Moors, who are participating! 

We have some truly amazing news! We are thrilled to announce that High Oaks Grange has been nominated for not one, not two, but THREE White Rose Awards!

The White Rose Awards are organised by Welcome To Yorkshire, and is the largest tourism awards ceremony in the UK. It's an opportunity for Yorkshire to showcase the best and brightest it has to offer, and we couldn't be prouder to have been selected as finalists for three of the award categories in 2020.
