The North York Moors Railway hold an annual steam gala but this year is extra special as they celebrate their 50th Anniversary.
From Thursday 21st September to Sunday 24th September, the North York Moors Railway hold a 4 day event with a selection of locomotives visiting Pickering Station. It is 50 years since the NYMR has been running passenger services, so this year the steam gala has some fabulous events to celebrate their momentous anniversary.
In addition to the 12 visiting locomotives, there will be the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful North York Moors scenery whilst being pulled by the home fleet as well as guest steam engines. Calling at Pickering, Levisham, Goathland, Grosmont and Whitby stations.
If you develop a thirst, don't worry as there is a beer festival at Goathland Station throughout the event. Offering real ales from local breweries, it's a great opportunity to try a new beer as well as exploring Goathland. There is also entertainment at Goathland Station on Saturday evening with the band Time is Tight.
At Pickering Station, there will be trade stalls for model railway enthusiasts and the Scarborough and District Railway Modellers will be in the Learning Centre.
