2024 is jam packed with local events and here are just some of the events that are happening in the North York Moors;
March
Scarborough Punk Festival
Scarborough Punk Festival returns to Scarborough Spa 30th & 31st March 2024. Bands such as the Buzzcocks, Sham 69 and The Defects will be entertaining the crowds across the weekend.
April
Sci-Fi Scarborough
Scarborough Spa hosts the annual Sci-Fi Scarborough event on the 20th & 21st April. There will be well known guests, authors, movie & TV props, console, retro & table top gaming, software developers, comic book artists, indie films, Cosplay competition, live music and collectible traders.
Whitby Goth Weekend
26th to 28th April is the bi-annual Whitby Goth Festival which is an event not to be missed. The alternative music festival and markets attract thousands of goths and alternative lifestyle fans to the iconic seaside town of Whitby. There are plenty of eye-catching outfits to admire.
May
Duncombe Park Country Fair
Bank Holiday Monday 6th May is the country fair at Duncombe Park, Helmsley. It's a great day out for the whole family with plenty of displays such as the Gun Dog display and Working Ferret display. There are also dog shows, horse shows and a mini Grand National.
Yorkshire Game & Country Fair
Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May there is the Yorkshire Game and Country Fair, held at Scampston Hall. There is a vast array of country sports with loads of ‘have-a-go’ opportunities, to fine foods and animals. The UK Tractor show will also be displaying some of the finest tractors in the UK.
Malton Food Lovers Festival
One for the foodies, the Malton Food Festival returns to the Yorkshire Food Capital on 25th & 26th May and 25th to 27th August. Lots of food stalls, bars, live music and entertainment will be available across the Spring and August Bank Holiday weekends.
June
Bryan Adams at Dalby Forest
Canadian rock legend Bryan Adams is the first of the 'Forest Live' summer concerts at Dalby Forest on Friday 21st June. One of the most successful recording artists of all time, will bring some of the greatest hits of his more than 40-year career to the beautiful forest setting.
Nile Rodgers & CHIC at Dalby Forest
Following from Bryan Adams at 'Forest Live' summer concerts at Dalby Forest is Nile Rodgers & Chic on Saturday 22nd June. They will be joined by Sophie Ellis-Bextor. It's bound to be a great 'pop' evening.
Malton Show
Sunday 25th June is the first of the agricultural shows of the summer. Held at Scampston Hall, 2024 is the 135th annual show. Sheep, cows, dogs, birds and horses will all be present with various shows and displays to entertain the family.
Scarborough Armed Forces Day
Annually held on the last Saturday of June, the annual Armed Forces Day is 29th June in 2024. Scarborough's South Bay hosts the event with veteran and cadet parades, marching bands, air displays and stalls. It's a great patriotic day where you'll be able to wave flags and enjoy the electric atmosphere.
July
Cock O' the North
The popular motorcycle racing at Oliver's Mount in Scarborough returns on the weekend of 20th July. The 2-day meeting with practice and qualifying taking place on Saturday morning and race action taking place on Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday, including the Cock O' The North feature race.
Meadowfest
If you love the idea of a festival but don't want mud, huge crowds and camping then Malton's boutique festival 'Meadowfest' on Saturday 27th July is the perfect solution. Enjoy live bands, street food and family entertainment.
York Proms
Sunday 28th July is the York Proms, held in Museum Gardens in York. It's a great night of live entertainment featuring live orchestra, opera soloists, a stunning fireworks finale all whilst you can sit in the gardens and enjoy a picnic.
August
Scarborough Open Golf Week
Between 1st September and 6th September, Scarborough Golf Week has been attracting golfers to the picturesque North Yorkshire Coast year after year. There are seventeen golf competitions hosted over 6 days. The participating Golf Courses are Filey, North Cliff (Scarborough), South Cliff (Scarborough) and Whitby.
Whitby Regatta
A full weekend of events and action at the Whitby Regatta between Saturday 17th August and Monday 19th August. It is the oldest sea regatta on the North East Coast, dedicated to yacht and rowing races, aquatic events and entertainment. It concludes with a fantastic firework finale on the Monday evening.
September
Marathon du Malton
The tastiest 10K returns to Malton on Sunday 15th September. Marathon du Malton takes inspiration from the Marathon du Medoc, it is Yorkshire's answer to a gourmet wineathon. Enjoy a 10K run whilst enjoying a range of food and drink and a festive atmosphere throughout the town.
October
Whitby Illuminated Abbey
From October 27th to November 2nd, Whitby Abbey is bathed in dramatic illuminations once again. You can also watch a tale of Dracula come to life within the abbey ruins all aglow.
Whitby Goth Weekend
The second of the bi-annual goth weekend makes a return on October 27th, ready for Halloween.
