We know that you want to enjoy the local attractions with your favourite four-legged pals so here is 5 of the best dog friendly attractions in the North York Moors.

 

1. North York Moors Railway

 

The North York Moors Railway offers steam train journeys from Pickering Station to Whitby and there is no need for your dogs to miss out as they are welcome to travel with you. Dogs are charged £3.00 for the day and are asked to remain on the floor and avoid being on tables and seats. We'd recommend stopping at Goathland and enjoying the Goathland to Beck Hole walk. 2. Castle Howard

 

Castle Howard, near York is a popular stately home which has been seen on screens from films and TV such as Brideshead Revisited and Bridgerton. The estate has 1000 acres of gardens and woodlands to explore. Dogs are made welcome and you can enjoy the gardens and outdoor areas with your pooch. They are also welcome in the outside area of the cafes and there are water bowls provided. Dogs are not permitted in the House. Plan your visit and book your tickets at Castle Howard.

 

 

3. Flamingo Land

 

Flamingo Land, near Malton is just 5 miles from High Oaks Grange. It is a family fun theme park and zoo and you may be surprised to find that the theme park is dog friendly. Although dogs are not permitted in the zoo, children's planet or the splash park, you can enjoy the thrilling rides. So, you can have the dog, the coats and the bags whilst the kids and big kids can get an adrenaline rush on Sik, Hero, Mumbo Jumbo and the other big thrill rides. Flamingo Land season runs from March to November.

 

 

4. Eden Camp

 

Eden Camp is a modern history museum located on a former prisoner of war camp, just 15 minutes from High Oaks Grange. Learn more about World War II with the immersive displays exploring the social and military history.  Dogs are welcome in all of the huts as well as a designated area of the cafe. It's a great family day out. Eden Camp's season runs from February half term to November. 

 

 

5. Bark Endeavour 

 

Does your dog have four sea legs? They are welcome aboard the Bark Endeavour in Whitby for free. Learn about famous Captain James Cook whilst enjoying North Yorkshire's Jurassic coastline. You may even spot a dolphin or two. Bark Endeavour's season runs from Easter to October. No need to book. 

 

 

There are so many dog friendly attractions in the North York Moors that the above are just some examples of places to enjoy. Further dog friendly attractions include Sledmere House and Gardens, Ryedale Folk Museum, Pickering Castle, Helmsley Castle, North Yorkshire Water Park and Dalby Forest. Don't forget the beautiful Yorkshire Coast beaches - dog bans are applicable on some beaches between May and September.
