The North York Moors Dark Skies Festival in 2022 takes place from Friday, 18th February to Sunday, 6th March.

The North York Moors National Park is an official Dark Sky Reserve (awarded in 2020) and has one of the darkest skies in the country with little to no light pollution. At High Oaks Grange we use low level lighting to preserve the night sky which means our guests can sit back on a clear night and take in the stars.

During the Dark Skies Festival, you can enjoy stargazing with experienced astronomers, learn how to take photos of the night skies and experience wellbeing and mindfulness.

In Dalby Forest you can enjoy a guided tour of the night sky using telescopes and binoculars to spot constellations, star clusters and galaxies. You can also enjoy an evening yoga session followed by a mindful star gazing walk. It sounds like a wonderful way to relax, unwind and embrace the night sky.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to take the perfect photo at night? At Whitby Youth Hostel, you can join a local photographer to understand the concepts and tour the harbour and the old town in the hope of capturing that perfect photo.

With many events scheduled across the North York Moors, it is a wonderful way to celebrate the Dark Skies that we are so lucky to enjoy at High Oaks Grange. If you love all things astronomy then please see the official North York Moors Dark Skies Festival website for a complete schedule.
