Condé Nast have just published their top travel destinations for 2021, and Yorkshire has claimed the #2 spot!
Naturally we're a little biased, but we quite agree with them! Our stunningly diverse county offers fabulous food and drink, exciting attractions, miles and miles of coastline, and the wonderful North York Moors, of course.
So, what is so special about Yorkshire, and why should you choose a Yorkshire staycation in 2021? Read on to find out…
Coast
There’s nothing like a trip to the seaside to put you in the holiday mood, and you’ll be spoilt for choice along the Yorkshire Coast. Scarborough, Filey, Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay, and Stainthes are all popular places to visit (to name just a few), where you can experience the buzz of the British seaside.
There are miles of beaches, coves and cliffs to explore, and if you’re lucky you’ll spot some seals. If you’re really lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of some whales!
Countryside
Yorkshire has three national parks: the beautifully scenic Dales, the heather moorlands of the North York Moors, and the rolling hills of the Peak District. We're also home to the picturesque valleys of the Yorkshire Wolds.
Therefore, it’s fair to say that we have some of the best countryside and natural beauty spots in the country. One of our favourite places to explore is Dalby Forest, which is just a ten minute drive away from High Oaks Grange.
So, if you are longing to get a little closer to nature, add Yorkshire to your 2021 travel bucket list!
Family Fun
Family days out in Yorkshire are always full of fun and excitement: there’s just so much to see and do! Visit the UK’s most popular zoo and theme park at Flamingo Land, swing through the trees at Go Ape in Dalby Forest, and hunt for fossils along the Jurassic coast.
We have written a whole blog post about our top 5 family attractions in the area, so make sure you give it a read if you’re looking for some inspiration for your Yorkshire staycation.
Heritage
Yorkshire is bursting at the seams with local heritage, enough to keep any history buff enthralled. From ancient battlefields and castles, to stately homes and war museums, the rich heritage of Yorkshire history is always at your fingertips.
A particular favourite with our guests is Eden Camp: a theme museum focusing on WWII, which will transport you back to experience the sights, sounds and smells of wartime Britain.
Food & Drink
Yorkshire is famous for fine food and drink. Excellent seafood can be found along the Yorkshire Coast, while the Dales and Moors produce world-class meats. And of course, there’s nowt quite like a good pint of Yorkshire ale from a local brewery. Why not have a look at our Dining Out guide, and see what tickles your fancy?
We always recommend a visit to Malton, known as ‘Yorkshire’s Food Capital’, to our guests. Malton is an idyllic market town, approximately 20 minutes from High Oaks Grange, where you will find a wealth of independent restaurants, cafes, and artisan food producers.
Have we convinced you? We hope so! A luxury staycation in Yorkshire will be a great way to enjoy a holiday closer to home next year, and we have some fabulous properties for you to stay in!
Choose from The Grange; our converted farmhouse with an 18-foot swim spa, our five star cottages and beautiful woodlands lodges with private hot tubs, or our glorious glamping pods.
