As the festive season approaches, York transforms into a winter wonderland, heralding the return of its much-anticipated annual Christmas market. Set against the backdrop of the historic city, with its ancient walls and the imposing York Minster, the York Christmas Market 2024 is poised to be an enchanting experience, filled with warmth, joy, and the magic of the festive season. 

 

Dates and Location


York Christmas market begin on Thursday 14th November and runs throughout November and December until the 22nd December. Nestled along Parliament Street and stretching to St. Sampson's Square, the market infuses the city centre with holiday cheer, inviting visitors from near and far to partake in the festive spirit.

 

Festive Stalls


York Christmas Market is renowned for its array of charming wooden chalets, each adorned with twinkling lights and festive decorations. This year there are 75 stalls offering unique gifts, handcrafted decorations, and artisanal goods. From handmade jewellery and crafts to chess, chocolate and cheese, there is something for everyone. You'll also be able to find traditional Christmas decorations, candles and scents so you'll be able to elevate your decorations and have your home smelling festive this season.


No visit to the Christmas market would be complete without indulging in the plethora of culinary delights on offer. Warm up with a cup of mulled wine or hot chocolate as you meander through the market. Foodies will be salivating with some fantastic fayre on offer. York itself is a compact city, making it easy to explore on foot, but be sure to dress warmly as the weather can be quite chilly. There is a specified quiet period from 10am to 12pm daily for visitors who prefer a more sensory friendly time.
